See the Debian OID hierarchy.

Packages and projects may request an entry in the Debian enterprise space from the Registration Authority. An application has to have the following information:
  • Name of the package or project;
  • Contact person and address;
  • Type usage:
    • Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP),
    • Rec. ITU-T X.500 or Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP),
    • Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS),
    • etc.;
  • Section of the OID space to be used. The OID space is currently divided in two sections:
    • package: A section for Debian usage project;
    • A section that is also used outside of Debian.
