See the Debian OID hierarchy.
Packages and projects may request an entry in the Debian enterprise space from the Registration Authority. An application has to have the following information:
- Name of the package or project;
- Contact person and address;
- Type usage:
- Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP),
- Rec. ITU-T X.500 or Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP),
- Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS),
- etc.;
- Section of the OID space to be used. The OID space is currently divided in two sections:
- package: A section for Debian usage project;
- A section that is also used outside of Debian.
